DONATE TO THE EMR NETWORK

Dear Friends,

Did you know that the same radiation that comes from a cell phone and cell phone antennas has been shown to break DNA, a precursor to cancer (Lai, H. and Sigh, N.P., 1996)? And it is associated with a variety of diseases and disorders including decreases in reproductive function, learning disabilities, immune system suppression, sleep disturbance, depression, cardiovascular abnormalities, memory impairment, refractive eye problems, changes in calcium efflux, headaches, dizziness, and skin rashes.

Did you know that the telecommunications companies are demanding to put up more antennas that will produce more radiation? Their excuse?  To service mobile phones that take pictures/videos that can be sent wirelessly, and cards for computers to provide Internet access wirelessly, including voice over internet. And, did you know that for every new device you buy the demand for this increased capacity goes up?

And, whether you use a wireless device or not – you will be exposed to ever expanding amounts of microwave radiation.

The feedback that we have received from you, our supporters, is that we need a better, up-to-date, simple-to-understand web site. We also believe that citizens struggling to work with local officials to site wireless facilities in the least intrusive fashion need to have a forum where they can share information with those in other municipalities across the country.

The EMR Network is in the process of updating our website and launching our new initiative, “Campaign for Radiation-Free Communities: Places People Call Home”. (See our new Facebook page of the same name: https://www.facebook.com/Campaign-for-Radiation-Free-Communities-Places-People-Call-Home-214352479285125/?eid=ARCW5s3fKA4IbJk0-Qf54MmXZ9w3fvlZlLrcN-caKPI5SOhlFSAZxAGe00BZCjV1wDLf1s6-adUqI0LY)  Here, legal, technical, scientific and other ideas can be shared, citizen to citizen. We will invite our advisors and those with expertise in the many aspects of the wireless issue to add to the discussion. As our name implies, our mission has always been to create a network of information and support. We will continue to post the results of credible scientific research as well as efforts to reform policy at the national level.

Updating a website costs money. We need help with this effort. We at the EMR Network continue to work without remuneration, as has been the case since our inception in November of 1998.

Please make a contribution  by filling out our printable donation form and sending it along with a check to P.O. Box 393, Concord, MA 01742. Your contributions will help support efforts to provide grassroots assistance to communities struggling to protect their neighborhoods.

Past Efforts of The EMR Network

  • Providing education and consultation to the public – to craft zoning bylaws to take advantage of what little zoning authority remains available following passage of the Telecom Act of 1996, and to stop telecom providers’ attempts to site towers and antennas near residences, schools, hospitals, rehabilitation centers, and long term care and day care facilities.
  • Opposing efforts of the mobile phone industry to promote use of church steeples, historic buildings, and schools as “stealth” sites for antennas.  When antennas are hidden from view people are exposed without their knowledge and therefore, without their consent.
  • Building a national grassroots network of citizens – scientists, policy makers, parents, and medical and other professionals – concerned about the health risks that they and their neighbors face with the proliferation of wireless facilities.
  • Maintaining an email network to which we sent news of the latest scientific, legal and regulatory developments related to RF/MW radiation.
  • Because of preemption of state and local zoning authority we, and 2.5 million citizens, brought a case before the Supreme Court of the United States a challenge to the constitutionality of the Telecommunications Act of 1996.

It is vital that all of us continue to be informed about wireless communication, a technology that has been implicated in credible scientific research to disrupt some of the most basic, and necessary biological functions of the human body. The EMR Network needs your support for this enormous task.

Sincerely,
Virginia Hines, Board Member
